Yuri started his residency by conducting an introductory performance with some of his instruments and effects at Spazju Kreattiv, in order to encourage the public to participate and take part. A total of fifteen individuals participated in various workshops throughout the residency, and even though there were no prerequisites for participation, all applicants had a musical background, ranging from electronic pop music, to indie rock, and even classical guitar.
Yuri also delivered a general lecture to students and teachers from the Visual & Performing Arts School in Gozo, where he delved into the main sources of inspiration behind his work, as well as the use of his favourite string instruments.

About the Artist
Yuri Landman (b. 1973) is a musician and an inventor of musical instruments. He has worked with experimental acts such as Sonic Youth, dEUS, Melt Banana, Rhys Chatham, Ex-Easter Island Head, Half Japanese, and Kaki King. In 2012, with Bart Hopkin, he published Nice Noise, a book about string preparations and extended techniques for guitar. In the same year he started his band Bismuth with Arnold van de Velde, and a debut album followed in 2014.
